Аннотация

This paper explores the cognitive-semantic and linguo-pragmatic features of aphoristic expressions used in English and Uzbek political discourse. The study is grounded in the theoretical frameworks of cognitive linguistics, Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980), and Critical Discourse Analysis (van Dijk, 2008; Chilton, 2004). Political speeches by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Islam Karimov, Barack Obama, and Boris Johnson are analyzed to identify the conceptual and metaphorical models underlying aphoristic expressions. The findings reveal that Uzbek political aphorisms are predominantly shaped by the concepts of justice, unity, and social solidarity, while English political discourse emphasizes change, personal responsibility, and national pride. The research highlights the universal semantic function of aphorisms as cognitive mechanisms that linguistically encode national mentality and political ideology.
