Аннотация

This article analyzes the symbolic meanings of phraseological units in English and Uzbek, focusing on their role in describing human character traits. Stone and metal names found in phraseological expressions function as important linguo-cultural markers that reflect the worldview, values, and cultural perceptions of the people. The study reveals that both languages share somatic and professional features in such expressions, while natural and physical features are specific to English. Furthermore, stone and metal components symbolically represent human qualities such as rigidity, coldness, endurance, determination, talkativeness, or indifference. The findings prove that semantic shift and symbolic interpretation play significant roles in the formation of these phraseological units
