Аннотация

This linguapragmatic analysis explores code-switching in Uzbek-English conversations among bilingual speakers in Uzbekistan. Drawing on data from 15 participants in informal and semi-formal settings, the study identifies pragmatic functions such as clarification, politeness, emphasis, and identity signaling, influenced by contextual factors like setting, topic, and relationships. Findings reveal code-switching as a strategic tool for negotiating meaning and social dynamics. The research highlights the role of pragmatic competence in bilingual communication and suggests future directions including larger corpora and computational analyses
