Abstract

This article analyzes the artistic features of character portraits used in the novel “Halfway to Paradise” by the Persian writer Said Nafisi and how they are reflected in the Uzbek translation. Through the means of portraiture, the author not only depicts the external appearance of a person but also reveals their inner world, social position, and spiritual image. Based on the analysis of the novelʼs characters, the study uncovers the authorʼs mastery of critical realism, his satirical approach, and his skill in creating vivid images. Furthermore, the article emphasizes the importance of conveying the artistic and aesthetic meaning of portraits in translation while remaining faithful to the original, and highlights the role of portraiture in the national and social context.
