Аннотация

The article analyzes the poetic innovations that took place in Uzbek novella writing from the late 20th to the early 21st century, focusing particularly on the artistic interpretation of human character and the centralization of conflict (collision). It demonstrates that with the removal of traditional ideological constraints, the psychological layer of the novella deepened, and the aesthetics of “inner struggle” became a dominant tendency. Drawing on the views of Umarali Normatov, O. Nosirov, Sh. Rizayev, and S. Umirov, the study conceptually interprets the thematic and stylistic diversity of the genre–historical, socio-political, contemporary, romantic, realistic, and modernist directions. The analysis centers on Qo‘chqor Norqobil’s works such as “Daryo ortidagi yig‘i” (The Cry Beyond the River), “Kulib tur, azizim” (Keep Smiling, My Dear), “O‘n sakkizga kirmagan men bor” (I Am Not Yet Eighteen), “Qordagi lola” (The Tulip in the Snow), as well as “Quyoshni kim uyg‘otadi?” (Who Awakens the Sun?) and “Osmon ostidagi sir” (The Secret Beneath the Sky). Through these texts, the article explores the experience of the Afghan war, the poetic function of the Surkhan regional color, the interweaving of realism and irrealism, and the life-giving power of love as means of revealing the hero‘s spiritual anguish. The research interprets artistic character as a synthesis of “core (nature) + social relations” and substantiates, through empirical examples, the shift of conflict from external confrontation to an “emotional collision.” As a result, the emergence of a new typology of heroes, the strengthening of the author’s “I,” and the transformation of psychological conflict into the compositional foundation of the novella are emphasized as the main conclusions of the article.
