Abstract

This article examines conceptual metaphors in English and Uzbek languages as reflections of national mentality. The study analyzes the role of metaphors in human cognition, as well as their cultural and national characteristics. English metaphors predominantly reflect individualism, pragmatism, and result-orientation, whereas Uzbek metaphors highlight spiritual-moral values, patience, and harmony with nature. According to the article’s findings, conceptual metaphors reveal the interconnection between language and thought, while also serving to identify cultural differences.
