Abstract

The rapid proliferation of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has necessitated a corresponding transformation in human language. This article analyzes the emerging AI lexicon, identifying two primary linguistic phenomena: the coining of neologisms and the process of semantic shift, where established words acquire new, specialized technical meanings. The analysis centers on foundational concepts essential for understanding and interacting with modern AI systems. Key terms explored include the evolution of the Prompt from a simple cue to a complex, constrained input, giving rise to the new discipline of Prompt Engineering. The article further examines critical failure modes, using the metaphor of Hallucination to describe the phenomenon of confidently fabricated AI output. Finally, it addresses the semantic repurposing of classical terms like Avatar and the amplified importance of technical standards like Time Code in multimodal contexts. Ultimately, mastering this lexicon is presented not merely as a matter of jargon, but as a crucial form of digital literacy required for critical engagement and effective utilization of AI in the 21st century
