Abstract

This article analyzes the origin, formation, essence of linguistic comparativism (comparative-historical linguistics), and the factors driving the development of this field. The comparative study of languages is inextricably linked with historical and linguistic development, scientific and technological achievements, cultural contacts, translation activities, and a number of similar areas
