Abstract

The article explores modern approaches to working with texts in teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL). The text is viewed as an essential tool for developing linguistic, communicative, and cultural competence. The author analyzes the main stages of text-based instruction and highlights the importance of learners’ emotional and semantic involvement in the reading process. Special attention is given to the combination of cognitive, communicative, and cultural approaches that help achieve a deeper understanding of Russian through authentic texts. Examples from teaching practice are presented, illustrating how texts can become a source of meaningful communication in the classroom.
