Abstract

This article provides an in-depth analysis of the role of artificial intelligence tools in developing students’ linguocultural competence within English language teaching. In today’s globalized world, mastering a foreign language requires not only linguistic skills but also the ability to understand cultural values, social traditions, and everyday practices. Therefore, linguocultural competence is considered an essential component of modern education. AI-based platforms such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, Google Translate, LingQ, and Kahoot AI have created new opportunities for integrating language and culture in the classroom. They allow learners to acquire cultural units of the English language more effectively, apply them in diverse contexts, and compare national and international cultures. Moreover, these tools support individualized learning, provide automatic feedback, and encourage autonomous knowledge acquisition. The article examines experimental findings on the use of AI in linguocultural competence development, discusses methodological approaches, and emphasizes the importance of teacher guidance to ensure accuracy and contextual relevance. It also points out certain challenges, such as semantic inaccuracies and cultural loss in automatic translations. Overall, the study concludes that AI technologies offer significant potential for enhancing both cultural and communicative competencies in English language teaching.
