The article analyzes the process of formation of linguopragmatics, its place in linguistics and its interrelation with other areas. It also covers its theoretical foundations, main categories - the concepts of speech act, context, implicature, presupposition and communicative intention. The development trends of linguopragmatic research in modern linguistics, their practical significance and the process of formation of this area in Uzbek linguistics are discussed.
