This article analyzes the views of linguists on the classification of proverbs containing somatic components belonging to different linguistic systems. Based on these views, the names of human body parts occurring in proverbs have been grouped into general categories. In Uzbek and English, which belong to different language systems, a statistical analysis has been conducted to determine how many proverbs include each body part. The percentage share of proverbs belonging to each group has been calculated based on the total number of somatic proverbs. Furthermore, the names of human body parts within proverbs have been classified according to their figurative meanings and supported with illustrative examples. Based on these classifications, general conclusions have been drawn and several recommendations have been proposed.
