This article analyzes one of the oldest theoretical problems in linguistics, the question of the natural connection between sound and meaning. The article consistently covers the stages of development of phonosemantic ideas based on the views of philosophers and linguists, and explains the articulatory, acoustic and associative features of the connection between sound and meaning.
