Аннотация

Language, beyond being merely a means of communication, is regarded as one of the fundamental elements in the preservation of cultural identity and the construction of soft power. Accordingly, this study examines the diplomatic function and international significance of language in general, and of the Uzbek language in particular, as a carrier of culture. With the emergence of nation-states, language has assumed a central position within the context of identity and sovereignty. Since the late 19th century, countries such as France and Italy; in the 20th century, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Spain; and in the early 21st century, Russia, China, and Türkiye, have established cultural institutes to promote their languages and introduce their cultures to the world, thereby engaging in active cultural diplomacy. Based on literature review and descriptive analysis methods, this study discusses the potential of the Uzbek language to serve as an effective instrument of cultural diplomacy. Enriched throughout history by the works of great literary figures such as Alisher Navoi, the Uzbek language stands as one of the cornerstones of Uzbekistan’s cultural capital. Furthermore, the study emphasizes that strengthening the cultural influence of a language through international promotion can play a crucial role in enhancing the global reputation of its country of origin. In this context, the cultural and diplomatic functions of the Uzbek language, as an element of soft power, are considered to hold strategic importance in elevating Uzbekistan’s international prestige within the framework of the “New Uzbekistan” vision
