Globalization, the development of science, technology, and digital literacy are bringing about many changes in the linguistic arsenal - lexicology, requiring new research over time. The lexical level of the Uzbek language is constantly evolving, giving rise to new directions within existing theoretical frameworks and practical approaches. The field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) is studied in close connection with applied linguistics. This article analyzes several key issues in Uzbek lexicology. The study reveals that the polysemy of lexical units in the Uzbek language requires in-depth research within the NLP domain. Furthermore, the distinctive features of homophones and paronyms are elucidated through examples, and their roles within the modern Uzbek linguistic system are defined. The findings of this research have practical significance for developing linguistic models that reflect the dynamic evolution of language and for improving NLP systems.
