Аннотация

"Mirza Fatali Akhundov is such a person who received his due price only in
our time. M.F. Akhundov is philosopher, dramatist, public figure, an example of living connection
between the culture of his country and the Russian culture." He is the founder of literary criticism
in Azerbaijani dramaturgy and literature, the chairman of the Caucasus Archeology Commission,
educator, materialist philosopher, public figure. The author of the above opinions is the famous
French writer Louis Aragon. M.F. Akhundov is one of the greatest representatives of free thinking
in Azerbaijani literature. The plot line of the author's works is made up of the idea of getting rid
of outdated village customs, modernizing. Thus, for the first time in the East, the presence of female
stage characters along with men in the play caused European writers to pay attention to M.F.
Akhundov. In 1851, a year after the work was staged in Petersburg under the title "Monsieur
Jordan and the Dervish Mastali Shah", in 1852, the German magazine "Magazin für die Literatur
des Auslandes" (Magazine of Foreign Literature) praised M.F. Akhundov's innovation in the
Muslim East, and called him as Tatars` Molière.
