Komiljon Imomov is one of the leading scholars in Uzbek folklore who has
deeply studied the genres of oral prose, in particular satirical and humorous tales. His monograph
“Uzbek Satirical Tales” published in 1974 and subsequent articles scientifically analyzed the
genre characteristics of tales, means of artistic depiction, the system of images, test motifs,
rhetorical and imaginary elements, as well as the issues of classifying tales. The scholar paid
special attention to the exposure of social injustice in satirical tales, the speech characteristics of
positive and negative images, means of comedy, and the specific features and typology of
characters of everyday tales. These studies are of great importance in revealing the ideological
and artistic essence of Uzbek folk tales.
