This article explores Prof. Hamid Sulayman’s doctoral dissertation, which provides valuable insights into the manuscripts of two early divans by ‘Ali Shīr Navā’ī – Badayi' al-bidaya and Nawadir al-nihaya. While Sulayman's work, written over sixty-five years ago, laid a significant foundation, certain postulates require revision and further clarification in light of contemporary advancements in Navā’ī studies. This article, building upon Sulayman's research, examines early copies of these divans, analyzing their contents and the notes made in primary sources. Additionally, the article highlights the contributions of newly discovered manuscripts, which were found after the publication of Sulayman’s dissertation. These manuscripts include works from the initial stages of Navā’ī's poetry, encompassing both his youthful and mature lyrical legacy, thereby enriching the study of Navā’ī’s early poetic development
