This article analyzes the semantic and functional characteristics of counting (quantifying) words used in Baburnama, one of the most important historical papers of the Uzbek literary language. The study systematically examines lexical units expressing quantity, including quantifying words, monetary, temporal, weight, spatial, and socio-economic units. The functional roles of counting words in the text, their contribution to the representation of events and phenomena, as well as their connection with historical, cultural, and social contexts are revealed. The analysis demonstrates that counting words serve not only to convey quantitative information but also to reflect the author’s worldview, the intellectual spirit of the period, and cultural values. The results of the study show that in Baburnama, counting words possess a broad semantic scope and function as significant linguistic means in terms of discourse and stylistic expression.
