This study examines the semantics of ethnic names and geographical terms used in the Baburnama. Ethnic names such as Türk, Özbek, Sardis, and Mongol appearing in the text are often not clearly defined and vary depending on the context. For example, where the people of Andijan are referred to as Türks, another section mentions battles with Özbeks. This demonstrates the ambiguity and variability in ethnic designations of the period. However, some records, such as the Ferghana province, where geographical boundaries are described in detail, clarify the ethnic and geographical perceptions of the period.
