This article elucidates the theoretical and practical foundations of the cognitive approach in analyzing anthroponyms. In cognitive linguistics, the conceptual structure of anthroponyms is examined from a semantic-functional perspective. Using Uzbek anthroponyms as examples, the article illustrates conceptual metaphors of names, their prototypical features, and their position on the mental map based on the frame method. The study demonstrates the intrinsic connection between anthroponyms and human cognition as well as national culture. In modern linguistics, examining language units not only in terms of structure or etymology but also in relation to human thought and perception has become a crucial issue. From this standpoint analyzing anthroponyms through a cognitive approach enables the revelation of semantic, cultural, and psychological layers of personal names. Anthroponyms are not merely nominative units but also linguocultural phenomena reflecting society's conceptual worldview. The cognitive approach serves as an effective methodological basis for identifying the mental characteristics, conceptual structure, and semantic associations of anthroponyms
