Abstract

This article highlights the role of phraseological units in linguistic development. The etymology and semantics of lexicological words are explained with examples, providing information about the methods of formation and emergence of new words. Nowadays, great importance is attached to the study of the phraseological system in the language from a semantic-pragmatic, linguo-cultural, cognitive, and scientific point of view. As we know, phraseological units in French, as well as in Uzbek, are linguistic units that express French culture and national mentality. They provide information about the national mentality, ethno-culture of the native people, as a component of meaning and an expression of evaluative attitudes. In general, phraseologisms are a vivid expression of the lifestyle, culture, enlightenment, and national mentality of the people. Only in the present era, the opportunity to study phraseological units from a semantic-pragmatic, linguocultural, and cognitive scientific perspective allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the language we want to learn.
