This article discusses the distinctive characteristics of metaphors, their classification, their role in the perception of ideas, the unique features of metaphors in poetic texts, and their significance. When conducting linguistic analysis of poetic works, it is essential to identify lexical units where the emotional-expressive semantic components of metaphors are prominently realized. These metaphors, as one of the lexical units demonstrating the poet's skill through language use, should be examined to determine how they serve the artistic and aesthetic purpose of poetic texts. The article explores the manifestation of metaphors in the poetry of Usman Azim, the People's Poet of Uzbekistan, drawing conclusions about the author's unique methods of semantic transfer based on the analysis of several of his poems.
