Abstract

This article analyzes the semantic and pragmatic features of adjectives in the Uzbek language that denote size and dimension. Adjectives such as “big,” “tall,” “light,” and “long” do not express a precise, concrete measurement; rather, their full meaning is revealed only in comparison with other objects or phenomena, which is explained on a scientific basis. The article examines the relative nature of dimensional adjectives, their essence, their place in the language system and in the speech process, as well as their conceptual character in human cognition. As a result, it is substantiated that the meanings expressed by dimensional adjectives are relative in nature and that this relativity plays an important role in the interrelation between language and thought
