PHONETIC FEATURES OF PRONOUNS USED IN AZERBAIJANI AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

This study comparatively examines the phonetic characteristics of pronouns
used in Azerbaijani and Uzbek languages. Although both languages belong to the Turkic language
family, they are located in different language groups, resulting in some similarities and differences
in the sound structure of pronouns. The research addresses the pronunciation characteristics of
personal, demonstrative, and interrogative pronouns, vowel and consonant changes, harmony
rules, and stress characteristics. Comparing pronouns such as “men”, “sen”, and “o” used in
Azerbaijani with the forms “men”, “sen”, and “u” in Uzbek revealed that sound changes are
linked to historical development. Furthermore, phonetic changes occurring during the
combination of pronouns with suffixes were also evaluated. The study is important in terms of
revealing the common roots and different developmental processes of Turkic languages. The
results contribute to comparative Turkology studies and more clearly demonstrate the phonetic
relationships between the two sister languages. In addition, the frequency of pronoun usage and
phonetic variants in spoken language were also noteworthy aspects of the research
