Abstract

The article is devoted to the concept of time in language, the expression of
time in proverbs, or the development of time-significant proverbs. First of all, the concepts of
subject and grammatical tense are clarified, their relations and differences are shown. The tense
category of the verb is presented as an expression of grammatical time. The temporal nature of
time is revealed. The concepts of absolute and relative time are introduced. The way of expressing
time in paremiological units, especially the grammatical expression of time, is justified by
presenting specific linguistic facts
