In this study, the linguistic features of Kazakh Turkish during its process of becoming a written language in the early twentieth century are examined. The analysis is based on the work Läylï-Mecnün Ḳıṣṣaṣı, and the phonetic, morphological, and orthographic features present in the text are evaluated. It is observed that elements of the Chagatai Turkish tradition coexist with features specific to Kazakh Turkish. The occurrence of the same word in different forms indicates that the standardization of the written language had not yet been fully established during this period. In this respect, the work constitutes an important source reflecting both the historical development of Kazakh Turkish and the linguistic characteristics of the transitional period
