Abstract

This article analyzes the semantic features of phrasemes in the Khorezm dialect based on modern semantic, cognitive, and pragmatic approaches. The study takes as its main criteria the formation of figurative meaning, the degree of imagery, evaluative–emotional load, and discourse functions of phrasemes. Phrasemes characteristic of the Khorezm dialect are described as semantically distinct from units of the literary language and as being closely connected with folk cognition, everyday life experience, and cultural stereotypes
