Abstract

This article analyzes the translation of the “Baburnama” into English and the linguistic as well as cultural challenges that arise in the translation process. In particular, it examines attempts to render Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s historical-memoir style, culture-specific realia and ethnographic units, and phraseological expressions with an adequate degree of equivalence in English. English interpretations produced by different translators are comparatively evaluated.
