Abstract

This article is devoted to the participation of phytonyms in similes found in “Qutadgʻu bilig” by Yusuf Xos Hojib, as well as to their cognitive-semantic characteristics. Phytonym-based similes are analyzed through illustrative examples. It should be emphasized that examining plant-related names in “Qutadg‘u bilig” helps to provide a broader account of the lexical richness of Old Turkic and to determine their role in shaping the art of simile
