Abstract

This article addresses the issue of developing literary editing skills in future Uzbek language and literature teachers. The absence of a dedicated course in this field and the varying levels of studentsʼ foundational knowledge and skills create challenges in preparing them to meet the requirements of new textbooks and curricula. The article aims to propose a comprehensive diagnostic methodology designed to address this problem by determining studentsʼ initial proficiency in literary editing, as well as a methodology for a targeted preparatory stage based on the diagnostic results. The proposed approach is intended to enhance the professional competencies and improve the quality of education for students in Uzbek Language Education and Uzbek Philology programs.
