Abstract

Shusha is an ancient city with a special place in the history, culture and music of Azerbaijan. Located in the mountainous part of Karabakh, this city was founded by Panahali Khan in the 18th century and was the capital of the Karabakh Khanate. The city’s strategic location has made it an important center in both military and cultural terms. Shusha is the homeland of famous personalities such as Vagif, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Bulbul, Natavan, Khurshidbanu, Gasim bey Zakir. Mugham, folk poetry and classical poetry came together here, forming the basis of Azerbaijani culture. Shusha, which was occupied by Armenian armed forces in 1992, was heroically liberated by the Azerbaijani Army on November 8, 2020. This liberation has become a symbol of both national pride and cultural revival. Today, Shusha is being rebuilt and revived as the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. The city, preserving the traces of the past, introduces the historical and cultural identity of Azerbaijan to future generations and the world community
