Abstract

This article analyzes the formation of compound words in English and Uzbek languages. The structural, semantic, and grammatical features of compounds in both languages are compared and examined. In English, compound words are mainly formed by combining two or more independent words, resulting in compound nouns, adjectives, or verbs. In Uzbek, compound words are created through the joining of words, fusion of elements, or semantic unity of word combinations. The article also discusses the reasons for the frequent use of compound words, their concise meanings, and their role in speech. Similarities and differences between English and Uzbek compound word formation are illustrated through examples.
