This article presents a comparative analysis of the principles of character development in the stories of Abdulla Qahhor, a prominent representative of Uzbek literature, and Ernest Hemingway, a leading figure of American modernist literature. The study examines, from a scholarly-theoretical perspective, the writers’ approaches to portraying the human psyche, the social and spiritual contexts, as well as the similarities and differences in character psychology. Particular attention is given to the formation of characters through laconic style, the depiction of conflict, interior monologue, and symbolic details in the storytelling of both authors.
