This article analyzes certain aspects of function words. Although function words cannot independently express a concept or serve as its term, they participate in the expression of logical forms of thought. Logical forms of thinking are understood as tools that act as a means of some kind of semantic connection, and it is proven that in some cases the function of such tools can also be performed by auxiliary words. For example, lexical units belonging to the group of function words participate in the expression of various relationships between different concepts, which are considered as units of thought construction. Conjunctions are said to express logical relationships between the material shell of concepts and their predicative parts. This is because auxiliary verbs are considered purely grammatical categories: Grammatical categories do not exist separately from logical categories. The article also examines the possibility of mutual correspondence between grammatical and logical categories in cases where there is a general correspondence between grammatical and logical categories
