This article explores the role of intercultural communication as a fundamental component in the process of foreign language acquisition. In the context of globalization, language proficiency entails not only the mastery of grammar and vocabulary but also a comprehensive understanding of the cultural characteristics of native speakers. Insufficient emphasis on the intercultural dimension adversely affects the quality of language education and the effectiveness of communicative interaction. This study examines the primary challenges associated with the absence of intercultural competence among students, including the misinterpretation of cultural codes, non-verbal signals, and difficulties in adapting to various communicative environments. Furthermore, the paper proposes pedagogical strategies aimed at fostering intercultural competence, such as the incorporation of authentic materials, implementation of role-playing exercises, facilitation of discussions on cultural differences, and engagement in project-based learning activities. The implementation of these methods contributes to the development of cognitive flexibility and the enhancement of communicative skills, thereby improving language proficiency and preparing students for successful intercultural interaction
