This article analyzes the regional features of youth slang from a sociopragmatic perspective. Survey results show that the use of slang is more common among urban youth, which is explained by urbanization, education level, and access to social technologies. At the same time, the influence of the internet and social networks reduces regional differences, leading to the emergence of an “internet dialect.” Rural youth adopt slang mainly by imitating urban speech and striving for modernity. The findings demonstrate that youth slang serves as an important means of socio-cultural integration.
