In poetic works, metaphor is one of the most vivid manifestations of a creator’s way of thinking. It serves as an important means of creating artistic imagery, expressing the inner experiences and emotions of the human heart, and enhancing the poetic effect. Through metaphor, the poet reinterprets the world based on their subjective perception and aesthetic worldview, as a result of which a unique cognitive picture is formed through language. This article analyzes the cognitive foundations and conceptual structures of metaphors in poetic texts, using the poems of the Uzbek writer Abdulhamid Cho‘lpon as examples. His poetic metaphors not only create aesthetic imagery in language but also reflect the cultural consciousness, historical experience, and national emotions of his people. In this respect, the cognitive metaphor in Cho‘lpon’s poetics emerges as an important means of revealing the intrinsic connection between language, culture, and thought.
