Abstract

This article analyzes the role of Uzbek idioms in expressing the national mentality from a linguocultural and cognitive perspective. Idioms are viewed as reflections of the nation’s worldview, moral norms, and cultural heritage. The study explores how the figurative and semantic layers of Uzbek phraseological units embody national character, ethical principles, and collective thinking patterns. Furthermore, a brief comparative analysis with English idioms highlights cultural differences and shared conceptual structures that reveal distinctive ways of thinking and perceiving reality in both linguistic communities.
