Folklore genres related to the magic of behavior, eyes and words occupy a large
place in the oral creativity of Turkic peoples. Kinna, badik, applause, cursing, spells, and other
sayings related to various rituals are among these. As long as such traditional, active genres have
been living as the creations of distant ancestors, of course, their organic layers related to social life
are noticeable. In addition to the verbal expression of applause and cursing, the range of influence
on such life events is also unique. In this sense, examples of this type are called genres based on
word magic. Genres based on the magical power of words are characterized by a relatively full
reflection of the people's ancient beliefs and demonological views. Expressions related to widely
performed applause, prayers, and wishes bring positive psychological pleasure to all nations, but
cursing, on the contrary, is a factor that has a negative effect on the psyche and can derail a person's
life. In the folklore of sister nations such as Uzbek, Turkish, Kazakh, Karakalpak, and Turkmen,
commonality and uniqueness are determined when the genre features of applause and cursing are
compared. Applause and cursing have a purely practical function due to the fact that they bring
benefit or harm to a person. The continuity and stability of this task ensures the survival of these
genres. How the life changes and stages of development that occurred in the process of such
continuity were reflected in applause and cursing. In the article, the local characteristics of
applause and cursing performed by any person, not by special performers, in the oral art of the
brotherly nations, the level of activity, the mythopoetic layer, the portability of the national color,
the magical effect of the chosen word, the performance itself rni and its significance were studied,
analyzed comparatively typologically on the basis of samples.
