Abstract

This article examines the origin of the concept of satire, its etymological
foundations, interpretations in literary studies and aesthetics, as well as its philosophical and
aesthetic essence. It highlights the role of satire in exposing social vices, carrying out social
criticism, and shaping moral and ethical values. Furthermore, the interrelationship of satire with
such concepts as humor, laughter, irony, and mockery is analyzed on the basis of scholarly
sources.
