Abstract

This article analyzes the linguistic features of the dastan “Shirin and Shakar”,
one of the significant examples of Uzbek oral folk literature, with particular attention to the use of
phonetic dialectisms in the text. The study highlights the theoretical foundations of phonetic
dialectisms and, based on the text of the dastan, identifies such phonetic phenomena as the
alternation of vowels and consonants, sound omission, and sound addition, while also explaining
their artistic and aesthetic functions. Furthermore, the article reveals the importance of phonetic
dialectisms in individualizing the speech of characters, imparting a folkloric spirit to the work,
and expressing national color. The results of the research demonstrate that phonetic dialectisms
play an important role in ensuring the vividness and naturalness of the language of the dastan
