Curses are one of the genres that share a common root in the oral
creativity of Turkic peoples, but have developed uniquely according to the historical,
cultural, and linguistic characteristics of each people. In Uzbek and Turkic folklore
traditions, curses manifest not only as expressions of negative wishes, but also as an
important aspect of ancient mythological ideas, religious beliefs, and social relations. This
article comparatively analyzes the content of curses, the system of images, the
psychological interpretation of blessings and curses, as well as their mythopoetic
