Abstract

This thesis is aimed at a scientific and theoretical analysis of the
doctoral dissertation of the Turkish scholar Hüseyin Baydemir entitled «Üzbek halk
masalları (İncelme-Metin)» («Uzbek folk tales: analysis and text»). The achievement of the
research is that the text of the tales is divided into motifs and classified according to the
international «Motif-Index of Folk Literature» catalog system. The thesis also reveals the
extent to which Baydemir effectively used the systematization principles of the Finnish
school in the study of Uzbek tales, which is considered an important step in the integration
and typological study of samples of Uzbek folk oral art with world folklore catalogs
