Abstract

This article analyzes the lexical-semantic, stylistic, and functional
features of borrowed words used in the Uzbek dialects of the Kashkadarya region. During
its historical development, the Uzbek language came into contact with various languages,
and this process was clearly reflected not only in the literary language but also in folk
dialects. In particular, Persian-Tajik, Arabic, and partially Russian borrowings are
actively used in the dialects of the Kashkadarya region, contributing to the enrichment and
diversity of local speech.
The study examines the synonymous relationships of certain borrowed lexical units
used in the Kashkadarya area, their semantic nuances, stylistic coloring, and degree of
usage in folk speech. In particular, the role of borrowed words in dialectal speech is
revealed through synonymous pairs such as “dem – nafas”, “xabar – darak”, “ziyon –
zarar”, “bahona – sabab”, “gumon – shubha” and “vafodor – sodiq”. The article argues
that borrowed lexical units should be regarded not only as a means of enriching
vocabulary, but also as an important linguistic phenomenon reflecting the historical
memory, cultural relations, worldview, and speech traditions of the people
