Abstract

Uzbek dialectology has passed through complex stages. Its formation process
was particularly intense. Here we refer to the language and spelling debates of the 1920s. It is
known from the history of our science that under the leadership of the Jadids, issues such as the
graphic system of the Uzbek literary language, the base dialect of the literary language, the laws
operating in the Uzbek language, particularly the issue of synharmonism, were comprehensively
discussed. Especially the issue of synharmonism did not leave the pages of conferences dedicated
to language and spelling and the press of that period, and various points of view were freely
expressed. In this regard, the debates on synharmonism are of particular importance. In this
process, not only the Jadids but also most individuals who considered themselves involved in
spelling participated. Among them, Faxri Kamol, who began his scientific activity already in that
period, published serious articles in the press under the names Faxri and “Synharmonist” and
illuminated the theory and practice of synharmonism based on the knowledge of his time. This
article analyzes Faxri’s point of view on synharmonism
