The problem of nomination in linguistics plays an important role in
determining the naming potential of language units and their semantic development. In
particular, the concept of secondary nomination is considered an important theoretical
category that explains the process of expressing new concepts through existing language
units. This article examines the scientific interpretations of the concept of secondary
nomination in Uzbek, Russian, English, and Turkish linguistics using a comparativeanalytical
approach. At the same time, it analyzes the general landscape of how the
phenomenon of “secondary nomination” has been interpreted in scientific literature, the
approaches on which it has been analyzed, and the extent to which it has been explored
