Abstract

This article analyzes the memoirs of Zahir al-Din Muhammad Babur (1483–1530), the founder of the Mughal Empire, known as Babur-nama. The work is examined as a multifaceted text combining elements of historical chronicle, personal recollections, and literary narrative. Particular attention is paid to the author’s intent, the linguistic features of the Chagatai text, as well as the historical, cultural, and biographical content of the memoirs. The study analyzes descriptions of geography, the ethnic composition of populations, and the flora and fauna of regions in Central Asia, Afghanistan, and India. Special consideration is given to the significance of the Babur-nama in shaping the political and cultural traditions of the Mughal Empire, as well as its reception in European and Russian scholarly traditions
