Abstract

The article studies the artistic and cultural function of proverbs in Uzbek prose of the 20th century and their universal human content based on a linguoculturological approach. It is based on the fact that proverbs, as a compact but deep form of folk thinking, are a means of strengthening the author’s idea in prose works, revealing the character of the hero and summarizing the moral conclusion. The expression of universal human values along with the national mentality of proverbs is scientifically analyzed using the examples of the works of Abdulla Qahhor, Gafur Ghulom and Said Ahmad
