Abstract

Throughout human history, communication has developed through various tools in different periods; with the advent of written communication, the foundations of the postal system were established. First observed among the Sumerians through cuneiform clay tablets, the postal system evolved in the modern era into a structured form of communication in which services were charged through the use of stamps. Beyond being small pieces of valuable paper indicating the payment of postage, stamps have become significant communication objects that reflect the identity, history, art, cultural richness, and collective memory of the societies to which they belong through their graphic elements, portraits, symbols, and typographic features. This study examines the representation of Ali Şîr Nevâî—one of the prominent literary figures and linguistic thinkers of the Turkic world—on postage stamps. In this context, postage stamps featuring Ali Şîr Nevâî that were issued abroad have been identified. On the other hand, it has been determined that no postage stamp dedicated to Ali Şîr Nevâî has been produced in Türkiye. To address this gap, the study aims to design a series of postage stamps centered on Ali Şîr Nevâî
